I recently assembled a new PC using these used or secondhand components:
Motherboard:
Asrock A320M-HDV
BIOS:
p 4.70, all default settings disabled overclock
CPU:
Ryzen 5 2600
GPU:
AMD RX 580 8gb
PSU:
CoolerMaster MWE GOLD 550w
SSD:
500MB
HDD:
2TB
RAM:
2 x 8gb 3200mhz (new)
For a month everything worked well, but now my PC unexpectedly shuts down when playing PUBG, and also when I’m not gaming. It simply powers off without closing Windows. To restart it, I have to unplug the cable, turn off the PSU, wait around 10 seconds or longer, and then the PC comes back on.
However, it still shuts down again, and this time it happens faster than before.
Since it just turns off without any warning, I don’t have any logs or data about what caused it. The PC didn’t even save my game recordings before it stopped.
I streamed to YouTube to show you the temperature readings, which were normal before shutdown.
CPU: 55°C 66%
GPU: 67°C 31%
I tried blowing air on the case and using the air conditioner in the room, but the PC still powers off.
I attempted benchmarking with Valley Benchmark, Heaven Benchmark, Unigine Superposition, setting the CPU to 4K Optimal. Even then, my GPU would only reach 1080p.
Cinebench R23 was used to stress the CPU, and FurMark was run to check maximum temperatures—PC remained stable up to 80°C without shutting down.
When using three different software tools, there were no shutdowns.
It seems the load and temperature are higher than during gameplay. Is there anything I can do? Perhaps a software-related issue?
My first thought is that PUBG might be the culprit, since it caused this problem only when playing that game.
But it turned out to be different: when I stopped playing and used the PC for YouTube, the issue still occurred.
I’ve checked the Reliability History, but it only shows a shutdown at 14:25:18 on 13/03/2024, which was unexpected.

Do you claim this RAM is a new component? If yes, what were you using? Regarding your RAM, is X.M.P/D.O.C.P. active in BIOS?

and for RAM, i cant find X.M.P/D.O.C.P menu
but i set my ram to auto, it show my ram run at 2660 (i forgot) maybe because my CPU support memori only to 2933

my pc shuts down during gameplay (briefly) or under normal conditions (prolonged), I ran some benchmarks on my GPU and CPU without results, it seems nothing changed.
I suspect the issue originates from the PSU, since every time this occurs I have to turn off the power supply, unplug the cable, wait a bit, then plug it back in and switch it on again for the PC to restart.
I found some online articles suggesting that a safety pin or trigger from the PSU could be responsible, leaving other components unaffected.
Until today...
I believe the problem might lie with my HDD. I’m not sure, but I need advice from people more experienced in PC construction or hardware.
My assumptions are based on testing with another PSU—my PC worked fine then.
It turned out the second HDD wasn’t connected when using a different PSU.
I tested again with the same setup, using my old PSU, and it still functioned properly.
I discovered the HDD cable was severely bent, changing color to white, which made me more confident about the issue.
I changed the cable but the problem persisted.

To share: if I access that drive for editing videos, copying, pasting, or watching a video, my PC doesn’t shut down.
OK, what’s the connection between playing games without the HDD and turning it off? When I access the drive for editing, copying, or viewing files, the PC remains stable, but with the HDD connected, it shuts down.
Perhaps because during gameplay, my game recorder runs in the background, using the second HDD as storage path.
It’s possible there’s a bad sector, faulty circuit, insufficient power from the PSU, or an issue with my AMD Adrenaline Recorder’s recording driver.
Alternatively, it could be due to voltage spikes from the HDD while recording video.
Or maybe something unknown is triggering the PSU to shut down the system.
This also happens when I connect a USB for internet tethering using my phone, which draws power to charge the battery simultaneously.

I removed the external HDD from disassembly—it’s an older model requiring its own power supply, with electric plugs. [WD Mybook 1tb], not mine but similar.
What went wrong? Did I overlook something? How should I proceed?
Does it have an outdated Molex connector for power or is it using a modern SATA power connector?
