Problem: On startup, my computer freezes with the CPU and DRAM indicators continuously illuminated—no flashing. Fans spin while some lights stay off. GPU and keyboard lights remain off even when power button is pressed. To start the PC, I repeatedly press power to shut it down and turn it back on until it loads into Windows, usually needing 10 to 20 tries. Recently, a system crashed during a YouTube video; audio cut out and Windows froze completely, then restarted in the same frozen state. Event viewer showed only a "KernelPower unexpected shutdown" alert. Specs: 3080 Ti FE R5 7600 GSKILL AMD EXPO 6000 32GB MAG B650 Tomahawk WIFI RM850x. Actions taken: Removed GPU, tried integrated graphics; swapped GPU with a 1080 Ti stick. Updated BIOS to latest version, cleared CMOS, removed CPU for physical inspection, re-seated all power cables, and performed a clean boot with driver updates.
XMP is active. There are additional overclocking methods implemented. Note: the CMOS was reset, which might explain the situation.
You noted that both the CPU and DRAM LEDs flash simultaneously, which seems unusual. My best idea is it could be related to the motherboard. Perhaps after repeated attempts, the board gets hot enough and finally establishes proper connection. That’s just a guess. PCs typically either post or don’t post. I’ve seen cases where improper CPU contact—due to cooler pressure—causes posting or not posting. Adjusting the CPU cooler can sometimes fix this issue.
Lower the processor speed gradually until it becomes more stable, such as 5600.
I removed the CMOS and lowered the RAM speed back to its default setting of 4800, but the problem persisted.
Remove the mobile from the case. Keep only the CPU, 1 stick of RAM, and power connected. Don’t add any drives or other parts. Just check if the error lights stay on. To turn it on, short the power pins with a screwdriver or paperclip. If that works, begin adding components one by one until the issue returns.
