Rx 6700xt is paired with Tforce 16gb DDR4 3600mhz RAM in slots 2 and 4. The B550 Prime Wi-Fi is connected, along with an Eva 750bq bronze PSU. There are 4TB of HD storage and 1TB of SSD. Nothing appears to be broken. It has functioned properly for two years without any issues, but recently it started behaving strangely. When I power on the PC, fans activate, lights turn on, the CPU fan engages, and the monitor activates, though the flash display port signal isn’t detected. Upon shutting it off, the GPU connectors flash red, indicating it’s receiving power. All attempts to troubleshoot have been thorough—testing every port, using different monitors, cleaning and reinstalling RAM, verifying PSU connections, checking CMOS battery, and even removing the GPU and RAM. I’ve also tried booting from a friend’s machine, which initially worked but later failed. Recently, after moving it, it stopped working again. After several attempts over 40 tries, it finally turned on after about eight hours of playing Elden Ring. Now it won’t power up at all.
I am a bit confused about some aspects of your description.
Has the issue not turning on at your (old?) house. Took to friend's house and worked fine. Then do you mean you moved as in to a new home, or moved to a new circuit in the house and issue returned?
Off the rip I would say something is going on with home electric or the power supply. Other items of consideration could be that the case power button is failing. That last aspect should follow no matter where you power from.
I didn't see that you listed the CPU in this rig. Most Ryzen don't but is this a "G" skew, or do you happen to have access to a GPU that doesn't require supplemental power?
First thing I would try would be to take the front panel headers off and unplug the storage drive power and see if you can short the front panel power pins (screwdriver) to see if it will power up. If that doesn't work I would consider taking the hardware out of the case to "breadboard" with as minimal attached hardware as possible and check to see if it will power up outside the case. If so check to be sure some bit of metal or something (such as from threading holes for the standoffs) is in the case.
Beyond that would perhaps consider a new power supply. The one you have isn't bottom of the barrel and consideration should be made as to how old that unit is. Other aspects to consider would be are you plugging directly to the wall or a power strip, UPS, and so on.
My cpu ryzen 5 5600x
I relocated to a new apartment close to school
I powered it on by unplugging the power supply, just shorting the pins – it still turns on the monitor but no screen appears
Now I've removed both my PSU and motherboard from the case; only the CPU and fan are plugged in, and the motherboard is connected with one RAM stick. It starts up
Then I reinserted the GPU to attempt a display, but nothing works.
Do you have any friends who use a low-power graphics card that you could try testing?
There seems to be an issue with the home electric system. No extension cords, power strips, or surge protectors were used. Have you tested other outlets and/or circuits inside the apartment? Since you're in an apartment, it's advisable to inform the landlord or property manager about checking the outlet and its supporting circuit. A faulty, loose, or improperly wired circuit could lead to serious problems if left unaddressed.
