My PC runs a Ryzen 7 1700 with an Asus Prime B350 Plus, a Scythe FUMA 2 cooler, a G.Skill Trident Z 32GB and a GTX 1080Ti. I recently moved it from my case to a new room using a plastic bag and Styrofoam padding. Although I believe the move was quick—just a couple of minutes—I didn’t notice any damage. After three months, when I plugged it back in, it wouldn’t power on properly despite fans spinning and lights working. I tried resetting CMOS, removing the battery for ten minutes, and reinserting it, but that didn’t help. Reseating the RAM didn’t resolve the issue either. Pressing power keeps it running until you force shutdown, and when I connect my keyboard, the RGB lights flicker briefly before turning off. I’m unsure what’s wrong and need advice.
Try removing the RAM and GPU, cleaning the contacts and slots, then reseating. Also, I know this is a machine that's been running, but Ryzen and supporting boards are known for being funny about RAM. My recent 5900X build took a couple weeks to start acting stupid when it didn't like the RAM I used, but it did something very similar about every 8-12 cold boots and seemed to freeze in sleep mode. Turns out the RAM wasn't QVL'd for the setup and caused issues in another machine before discovery. Before that, I had a 1700 on a B450 myself and I now know that while it ran, the RAM it used wasn't QVL'd for that setup either, it just managed to tolerate it enough to run. If yours has been running fine until now, your RAM could be going bad. But I would try removing, cleaning and reseating the RAM and GPU first. ADDED: It's also possible the PSU is going bad. Kinda sounds like it could also be weak or failing capacitors. Edited October 22, 2022 by An0maly_76 Revised, more info
It seems you're questioning whether blowing air on something would affect its moisture level and are looking for ways to figure out the issue beyond swapping out the power source.
I cleaned up using a vacuum cleaner and repositioned the GPU, then tried connecting it again after forgetting to attach the PCIE power cable. The notification asked me to do that, but now that I’ve plugged in the power cable, the issue remains unchanged—no display appears.
It seems the power supply unit might be the problem. I haven’t eliminated the chance of unstable RAM either.
20221022-184547_vMbSGHGs.mp4 Btw this is a video of my pc running, I guess I could take out the ram again and hope it works but at this point I'm not super optimistic, the ram isn't even a year old and I haven't really put it through much since I only really started using it between february and june.
Remove the CPU and examine the connections. If it had a rough journey, it likely got damaged.
You noticed a glowing indicator beneath the cooler and wondered if it indicated something. It might be a helpful hint.
