Hello everyone.
My computer began producing this noise right after I pressed the power button. I’m not sure where it’s coming from—I don’t feel comfortable taking it apart. The system is running smoothly; I’ve tested with games and temperatures are normal. There’s no burnt odor. Over the past four years, I’ve only changed the power supply unit, which has been working perfectly for three months. I’m struggling to pinpoint the source because the sound is so distinctive and occurs right when all the hardware activates. Could it be related to the PSU or the fans? I don’t have another PSU available for testing, and I’m unsure how to modify components safely.

My main worry is:
This noise has never happened before. It started after a forced shutdown—when I held down the power button because my PC was stuck on the restart screen. After waiting over five minutes, it didn’t seem like it would actually restart. I’m asking whether this is normal or if I should be worried. Understanding what’s going on would help me know what to do, especially since I’m not very familiar with tech.

I’ve attached a video of the sound here:
https://streamable.com/cvim7r
(0:02 mark)

You’ll notice the noise right away once I release the power button. It doesn’t last long—there isn’t a high-pitched buzzing sound, just the noise before it happens. After that, everything runs quietly and normally. The only unusual part is that when I turn on the PC, everything works perfectly. I haven’t seen any blue screens in four years, no freezes, and no random shutdowns.

Here are my system details:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
- GPU: GeForce RTX 3070
- RAM: 32 GB (8 GB x 4)
- Motherboard: PRIME B450M-GAMING
- PSU: MSI MAG A850GL, 850W, 80 Plus Gold

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Take an A4 sheet and roll it into a cylinder, then place one end near your ear while using the other to pinpoint the noise's origin. Share your findings—like a video of the test, not a distant recording with closed panels.

Does the noise resemble a click, and does it occur during shutdown?
