In short, when I attempted to turn on my PC, the power button failed to respond. I pressed it several times while holding it for a short period, then tried flipping the PSU switch on and off without success. The PC eventually started, but replicating this issue didn’t occur again. This has happened for the second time; previously it lasted a few weeks, then everything returned to normal. Initially, I thought dust was the cause, but it didn’t reappear after cleaning the power button and connection points. Now I suspect something else is interfering. My system details are as follows: OS – Windows 11 Pro (fresh install), GPU – Gigabyte RTX 3080 10GB Gaming OC rev. 1.0, CPU – I7 10700F, Motherboard – MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus, RAM – Corsair vengeance 32GB (4x8) @ 3200mhz, PSU – Be Quiet Pure Power 11 700W, Case – Deepcool Matrexx 50. I also have multiple SSDs: main OS SSD is Samsung 990 Pro 1TB, a second SATA SSD is Seagate 1TB, and a third Samsung 980 Pro 1TB. The main OS SSD is brand new, but the power problem occurred even with the old one, indicating it’s not just dust.

Have you experimented with cutting the power connectors on the mainboard?

I just tried it, but it still boots up normally. I can't recreate the problem I was facing, and it's definitely not a one-off because this has already occurred twice. I'm wondering if the case might be related, given the price of around 40$ and the quality of the cables—though I'm not sure. I also don't want to make a hasty decision and buy a case just to find out it was something else, especially since I've already invested more in this PC than I should have.

I think the power button might be stuck inside or damaged. If it was stuck, it would start up and then shut off after some time when you held it down. You could try using a temporary button to see if the issue repeats, which would confirm whether it's the button or something else. If not, you'll have a simple fix.

It seemed like a rare problem, but it usually restarts smoothly. He mentioned he couldn’t recreate it, yet it occurred several times with gaps in between.

To accelerate testing of the button feature, you could simply power on the computer, turn it off, and repeat the process continuously.

It functions smoothly with no lag; the button detects presses instantly and initiates booting. Even during brief power interruptions, it starts up without issues. This began after I organized my cable setup inside the case—previously disorganized cables were tangled. While trying to free some zip ties, I possibly damaged the power button cable or nearby connections. I’m unsure if it was a direct scratch, but it seems the problem emerged once the cables were disturbed. Now it works perfectly after a few days, and no further changes are needed.

it isnt button power i was talking about but something broken inside the mechanism in the button that completes the circuit to start the pc, if that circuit is kept completed the pc will pretty quicly power off again. this is an example of a button with the circuit completed, wich i hope atleast gives you an understanding where i was coming from
