I'm feeling exhausted, upset, and financially strained. My setup had reliability issues after buying an AMD card, specifically the 7800XT. Once installed, problems started—my PC would freeze with a black screen and become unresponsive. This issue occurred about four months ago. Through research on Reddit and other forums, including Tweakers, I discovered it might be related to a power supply failure due to an outdated PSU. That’s where the costs piled up. I spent money on new components, upgraded my PSU, CPU, RAM, and even swapped out storage and installed a fresh M.2 SSD with a clean Windows setup, but the crashes persisted. I relocated my system into a new case, added a boxed cooler from the CPU, and changed fans, yet it still fails. I removed all peripherals, including an AIO watercooler, NZXT lightning gear, and RGB fans, installing only the base case fans. I even moved my desk to a different location so the PSU plugs directly into a wall outlet, avoiding daisy-chaining. I tested various monitors and cables, but nothing resolved the problem. Now I’m questioning whether I should continue building PCs, as it’s becoming too frustrating. My current setup: GPU—AMD 7800XT, CPU—i5 13500, PSU—Stock Corsair 850W, MOBO—GIGABYTE B760, RAM—Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5200MHz (32GB), RAM—dual channel. I’m down around 1600 euros and rely on this machine for work and entertainment like games and series. If anyone can help, I owe you.

Oh and to add to this, there is a faint coil whine which I cannot find where it is coming from.

The card was brand new but issues began upon installation, so why wasn’t an RMA processed? It remains covered under warranty even today. Would removing the GPU resolve the problems?

I can't access external links directly. However, you can follow the tips from the article to locate Windows crash logs yourself.

It would have been wise to reach out to your card manufacturer for a warranty replacement.

I put in my old GPU but some issues persisted. There were odd glitches such as random white flashes on my screen and a strange white line appearing beside media files like YouTube or Netflix. I didn’t return the card because I wanted it to function properly and believed other system components might be causing the problems. Some others also offered similar advice.

Check if none of the peripherals are triggering issues. Use only mouse and keyboard, avoiding any network activity.
