My device is having trouble downloading games or starting them, especially Fortnite. It often takes 5 to 10 minutes for a game to load, sometimes not at all. The main parts I’ve checked include an Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 motherboard, an AMD Radon RX 6600 Challenger, a Ryzen 7 5700X, a Noctua NH-U1 2s Redux Corsair RM750e, Windows 11 OS, a Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB drive, a 3.5" 7200 RPM hard disk with M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 NVMe, and an Kingston KVR32N22S8/8 8GB RAM module. I’m hoping the G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB DDR4-3200 will be installed soon. At the time of writing, Wi-Fi speeds are around 35.02 Mbps download, 14.30 Mbps upload, with noticeable latency. It’s worth mentioning that my Xbox One and OLED Nintendo Switch are working well on this connection.

Check if your games are stored on the HDD or if your SSD is nearly full, which can cause sluggish performance.

Unfortunately, it seems my SSD isn't actually compatible with my motherboard.

Verify your storage space, making sure the SSD isn't nearly full. Additionally, review the CPU temperatures to ensure everything is within normal range.

It must be compatible. When games run on an HDD, Fortnite often takes a while to load.

There are various versions of the M.2 connector, allowing for imaginative modifications like turning an M-key SSD into an E-key Wi-Fi port.

Absolutely, the SSD should work with his motherboard. I’m confused about why he claims it isn’t compatible. Is it possible his setup uses an HDD for games instead? Also, did you correctly understand that he mentioned an 8GB RAM stick?

I agree with that perspective. However, it doesn't rule out mistakes from users or incorrect setups. Still, what leads you to believe this? Are there any warning signs or missing files?

I understand your SSD won't work because you reviewed the motherboard guide and confirmed the setup was correct. The drive isn’t showing up either. You mentioned you only have 8GB of RAM but should have 32 more soon—thankfully they’ll arrive eventually.

It seems the installation might be incorrect. All games and other programs are currently running on the HDD, which likely causes the slowness. However, it’s unclear why an SSD wouldn’t work with this motherboard—M2_1 supports PCIe3x4 and is compatible with M key SSDs like the 970 EVO.
