I assembled my PC in 2018 and have been operating it smoothly ever since. I make sure to maintain it well. I regularly use compressed air to remove dust and always power down my system at night.
Recent small issues with my PC include a CMOS problem that was fixed by replacing the CMOS chip over a year ago. Occasionally, power outages occur, so I used to keep the PC in sleep mode for a few hours using my backup UPS. However, I stopped doing this recently. My UPS battery is now dead, and whenever power cuts, my PC shuts down too. But once it restarts, everything works fine.
This morning, when I tried to turn it on, nothing responded. The motherboard LEDs are lit, showing power is being supplied, but the fans don’t spin, the screen doesn’t react, and the RAM lights aren’t flashing. The power button on my case doesn’t work either.
I checked for loose cables and the case power button cable—everything seemed fine. During a 5-10 minute check while the PSU was running, I pressed the power button again just to see if it would help. After restarting, I changed the PSU for two minutes, turned it back on, observed the motherboard LEDs, and then pressed the power button once more. It still didn’t start. I kept watching the PC for another 2-5 minutes with the PSU still connected, and it eventually started.
I suspect the PSU might be the cause. It seems to take a while to charge or reach full performance... Should I consider replacing it?
