Hello! I recently assembled my PC today. It booted up without issues, then I restarted it and activated the XMP profile for the RAM. After playing Cyberpunk 2077 for about five hours straight, the machine suddenly shut down. I reopened Cyberpunk and checked the temperatures: the GPU hit a peak of 77°C but averaged around 74°C, while the CPU stayed between 60-66°C. It restarted again, then randomly after booting. Upon restarting, the CPU spun very slowly—not as fast as normal—and I suspected an XMP issue. I turned it off to rule that out, but when I powered it back on, the PC wouldn’t start at all. The CPU fan didn’t spin, and there was no display output, though other components like the GPU, cooling fans, and LED indicators on the motherboard were functioning.

I attempted several fixes: removed the CMOS battery for 15 minutes, used a screwdriver to adjust the CMOS jumper pins, and reinserted the battery. However, everything failed. I also checked the connections in the motherboard, confirming they were secure. The power supply was off and the cable was disconnected.

I tried removing the RAM one by one, but nothing worked. The GPU cables seemed fine, though the CPU fan was warm—likely due to recent use and placement near the cooler or on top of the heatsink.

My specs are: CPU – Ryzen 5 3500X (3.6GHz), RAM – Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channel, MOBO – Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite, GPU – Asus GeForce GTX 1660 Super, Dual fans, PSU – SilentiumPC L2 (80+ Gold, 550W).

I’m still unsure what to try next. The parts are brand new and performed perfectly for hours. I’m still holding the XMP profile in blame, but can’t post it to reset settings. Any suggestions? There’s a red LED lit up under the CPU on the motherboard.

What bothers me is the CPU fan isn't turning. It seems the motherboard might be failing. After following the usual steps, you could try using a motherboard speaker to check for error codes. These will show if the board is working properly and not malfunctioning. If it doesn't produce any sound (a single short is normal then it works), then return the motherboard for repair.

Hey! Thanks for the suggestion, but I resolved the problem by changing the RAM slots. It seems like the XMP setting might have been the cause. All my components should now work at 3200MHz. Have a nice day!
