Hey everyone! The issue began when a hard drive stopped working properly at a connection point, leading to water spraying onto the front of the case and some distilled water getting onto the components. I shut it off before any issues arose, but the system managed to restart itself before I could cut power. After drying it out and removing the faulty drive, I restored everything and turned it on. It booted normally, showing the boot beep and logo screen, but then started flashing a pattern of dashes in the top left corner. You can watch a video of this here via the Reddit link provided. Later, it entered the BIOS menu, displaying both my RAM and drives, with one drive already having Windows installed. I’ve attached some photos of the BIOS for reference. I’m unsure what to do next since I don’t have any spare parts available for testing. Please help me out. Also, note that after drying, the screen displayed a message saying the BIOS was reset. My build includes a GIGABYTE X570 AORUS PRO WiFi AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, a 1000W 80+ Gold certified system with a fully modular design. The motherboard is from RM1000x, and I have a Samsung 970 Evo M.2-2280 NVME SSD for the drive bay.
I noticed you didn't include details about the initial boot message. When I first turned it on after drying, the screen displayed a BIOS reset notice. I'll note this and check if it resolves the issue.
I found my Windows thumb drive, installed it, and started the setup. The installer took me to the installation or repair screen. When I attempted a repair, it reported an error and returned to the options menu. Then I tried reinstalling, but it said another Windows version was already present. I plan to remove the M.2 drive and test it further, possibly installing on another drive instead.
I successfully set up Windows on the additional storage, but I’m still able to reach my previous drive and retain all my files, even the old Windows installation. It’s unclear why I can’t boot from the M.2, but thank you for your assistance—it really helped!
