The PC freezes yet remains active, but the monitor shuts down after a short period.
Recently over the past two days my PC has been experiencing sudden freezes. After a few minutes it shuts down and the display goes off without any signal, yet the system remains active! The fans and other parts keep working normally. Even when playing games or anything that causes a freeze, I still hear sounds. After forcing a restart with the button, the system runs smoothly without any hiccups. It works well once the system is turned on for a while, even after leaving it on for hours before turning it off again. This happens about once a day.
I recently got my new GPU, which has been working fine for a month. Here are the details:
- Ryzen 5 2600
- 16GB RAM
- RX 5700XT
- PSU 450watt
- Booting from SATA SSD (89% health)
- Another SATA SSD available
- 2TB HDD
- Using 3 monitors
- Running Windows 10
I also found Event IDs 219, 263, and 4101 in the Event Viewer around the time of the freeze.
Could you help me resolve this issue? Should I consider a full reinstall of Windows?
TIA
Press ctrl shift windows B to restart your graphics card. Also verify your CPU and GPU temperatures during operation.
also consider updating gpu drivers and also attempt to switch to a 500+ watt cpu since you have power-hungry devices such as hdd
