Hi
I installed my new RX 9070 with a fresh PSU. The computer powers on but fails the RAM check—DRAM light stays lit constantly—and there’s no POST. No beeps from the motherboard, just the persistent light. The system uses AM4, AMD 5700x, Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite, and 32GB DDR4.
I tested the RX 9070 in another machine and it functions properly. That setup is AM4, AMD 5600x, Asus Rog Strix B550 A, with 16GB DDR4.
I reinstalled the old 1080ti into my PC, which works correctly, passes the RAM test, and boots Windows fine.
I’ve re-seated the RX 9070, inspected the power connectors, and cleared the BIOS without success.
I’m uncertain about the problem now, but I’d like to look into a BIOS update, even though it seems unnecessary at this stage. Any suggestions would be helpful.

What is the BIOS version for your motherboard? What is the make and model of your new power supply unit? Did you execute DDU in Safe Mode to eliminate all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, and Nvidia) prior to replacing the graphics card?

Hi,
I’m uncertain about my current BIOS version and will need to update it when I return home. For other inquiries, please note:

PSU is a Super flower leadex III 1000w
I didn’t uninstall any drivers before installing the new GPU—I was using an RTX 3070, then the 1080ti, and finally the RX 9070.
The second system uses my old PSU with the 1080ti. With the RX 9070 it booted into Windows without issues, even though this setup has Nvidia drivers.

did you utilize two separate pci cables, each measuring 150w? you must also eliminate drivers before swapping a card, as failing to do so might lead to complications. bios has been updated to the most recent version.

The present bios version is f16d. I also executed DDU in Safe mode and deleted the previous drivers, yet the problem persists.

I'm working with distinct PCI cables; the 1080ti functioned properly and I suspect the card draws more power. I also deleted all previous drivers via DDU. Likely, the next step is a BIOS update.

So I've updated the bios to the newest version, but the problem persists. The 1080ti is functioning properly with the updated bios. I don't know what the current issue might be.

The problem arose because my NVMe drive wasn't compatible with the RX 9070. I had an HP EX950 M.2 512MB PCI-e Gen3 NVMe SSD, and it caused the same issue no matter which slot it was in. Even after formatting the drive, the problem persisted. The drive also displayed a red indicator LED, which wouldn't light up if the RX 9070 was connected. I tested a similar model from another brand, but it functioned correctly. It seems there might be an incompatibility between the HP SSD and the RX 9070.
