Hello. Yesterday I increased the clock speed of my i5-6600k skylake from 3.5 to 4.2Ghz. Everything functioned properly. I ran some benchmarks and stability tests using 3D Mark and Aida64; the CPU performed well and remained stable, with consistent temperatures. Today, after booting up the PC, everything worked smoothly, including playing a League of Legends match. When I returned home to grab something to eat, I started browsing the internet and watching YouTube videos. Suddenly, a blue screen appeared indicating an error occurred. Now, whenever I attempt to start the computer, the ASUS motherboard logo appears, but the screen turns black instantly, followed by a "_" flashing in the upper left corner before the PC remains unresponsive (the monitor still receives power). Anyone know what could be wrong? Possible issues include a faulty CPU. I tried resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and adjusting it manually in BIOS (I can access BIOS settings). The BIOS displayed the CPU fan speed and temperatures, which were between 22-24°C. All fans were operating normally, the motherboard power LED was on, and the rear white LEDs were pulsing.

Specs:
i5-6600k skylake
Asus Z170-E motherboard
(New)
MSI GTX 970
Corsair CX600M
HyperX Fury 2x8GB at 2133MHz
Seagate SSD 1TB
Corsair SSD Force Series F60A 60GB
Windows 10

After reading many articles, I followed the steps I learned: I executed chkdsk c: /r in the command prompt (since my SSD is connected as C), which displayed numerous errors such as unreadable data. Next, I performed a format on c: using NTFS. When attempting to install Windows from the USB drive, I received an error indicating only GPT disks were supported, not MBR disks. After some research, I followed the instructions in "diskpart -> list disk -> select disk 0 -> clean -> convert gpt -> exit" and restarted the PC, resulting in a smooth installation.

Windows is installed on the ssd, and no, I don't have access to a different ssd/hdd/sshd. Can overclocking damage the storage drives?

I don't agree. Consider creating a bootable USB drive and checking if the system boots from it.

Restore BIOS to its original setting and attempt to fix Windows using installation or recovery discs.
