The PC fails to respond after the reset switch is connected.
Hello, a few days back my sister from my girlfriend had an issue. The computer wouldn't power on when she pressed the power button—it stayed stuck at the CPU LED on the mainboard. She brought in a new motherboard and asked if I could assemble it. After finishing, I used a screwdriver to turn it on (but didn’t install it inside the case). Everything seemed fine then. Once I opened the case and pressed the power switch, it still stuck at the CPU. I checked everything, turned it on with a screwdriver, and it worked. After turning it on and off 20 times, I discovered the problem was only with the reset switch. I’m curious why this happens—why does the CPU work normally but the reset switch causes issues? I don’t have access to more details, but I’m not sure what to do next.
The reset button might be damaged or connected incorrectly, causing the computer to interpret it as holding reset, preventing proper startup. You can try flipping it back and forth to see if it resolves the problem. If not, simply keep it unplugged. This seems like an unusual issue.
