He has been using his PC since July without any problems, but today he went outside to smoke and now the system can't find any storage. I removed an M.2 drive from my PC and inserted it into his, and it won’t be detected either. I tried checking in Windows to see if they would show up, but I don’t know what to do next.

It means the system isn't recognizing any storage devices. The computer isn't detecting external drives, and it doesn't boot into Windows or perform related actions.

I connected a USB drive using the Windows installer, and it recognized that it would boot straight from the BIOS.

Check if the boot drive functions properly on your computer. Could you let me know whether it's a laptop or desktop and provide the brand and model?

my computer runs flawlessly the extra M.2 slot is ready to use on my machine it’s a SkyTech prebuilt with an i7 10700 and an EVGA 3070 Ti it was scheduled with Best Buy tomorrow since it’s still covered under warranty
