I've upgraded my computer from an i5 4570 to an i7 4790k, but now the RAM isn't functioning. Plugging both sticks in doesn't get me started, and nothing appears on the screen. It seems like the DIMM slot might be faulty, though I'm not sure. Anyone have ideas or fixes for this? I'm worried it could mean I need to replace my motherboard. This has been working perfectly for years, so why did it change now?

Which motherboard are you having? A dual DIMM RAM setup should be placed in the second and fourth slots, not near the CPU socket.

Your system supports just two RAM slots with the MSI H87M-E33 motherboard.

Your new CPU might lack dead memory channels; consider reverting to the i5 if possible.

I've already reinstalled the i5, but the dimming remains inactive.

It's tough to say anything, but double-check that you haven't damaged any pins in the CPU socket of your motherboard.

I verified the pins, everything looks good. The BIOS recognizes the dimm1 slot and it's currently empty. Both RAM sticks are functioning properly. It appears there might be an issue with the dimm1 slot itself.

You've observed a curious behavior with your PC. It seems to reset itself after a short delay when you hold the power button. This could be due to the system's internal mechanisms or power-saving features.
