I set everything up with MSI PRO B650M-P and Ryzen 5 8400F, plus two HyperX fury 8GB DDR5 modules. Swapped out the old, failing motherboard too. Press power—no boot, just a single CPU LED flash. Tried resetting via BIOS but failed. Checked all connections, nothing wrong. The previous board had a dying chipset causing freezes, and before this upgrade it also froze after a minute. I suspect the power supply might be the problem—the old FSP PNR 650W under heavy load for five years could be faulty. The DDR5 RAM was installed upside down, which is definitely a mistake. Sorry for wasting your time; the real issue was overconfidence. EDIT: turns out the RAM orientation was the key fix. ROGOFOS helped resolve it on December 6, 2024.

A 650W rating seems modest; what graphics card are you using? The 8400F doesn’t support testing without a GPU. Installing a reliable PSU is crucial—it can protect all components, even if it’s budget-friendly. Choose something overpowered for better performance and stability, and aim for a unit that lasts at least ten years.

The LED flashes in various colours depending on your setup. The EZ Debug LED on your motherboard displays a specific colour when it lights up. Are you asking about the general flashing LED or the one associated with debugging?

gtx1070 is my graphics card and the power source was sufficient to keep the e5-2670 running for years before. It should still be capable of handling your current configuration, as long as it hasn't failed. I also thought it would work without the GPU, but the result remains the same either way.

Yes - it's the PSU. Clearly I can't confirm it, but I suggest making sure you have a way to return any purchase if it doesn't work. That's the only logical option now.

You can view your BIOS version by using system properties or the BIOS setup utility without powering on the PC. Look for the AMD RYZEN 8000 DESKTOP READY label in the system information.
