Hello, I'm preparing a complete upgrade for my PC. The motherboard is changing from MSI 970 Gaming to MSI A320M Gaming Pro, CPU to FX-6300, GPU to 750ti, and RAM to 1060 3gb DDR4. I have two questions: Will I still be able to boot Windows? I used an OEM key previously, so I think I might need to contact Microsoft for a new one. Also, do I need to remove all the drivers before starting this upgrade? Please let me know. Thank you!
You're dealing with a pretty tricky situation here. It sounds like you've made some changes to your PC and are still experiencing issues, even though you've got the right key. It might help to double-check your setup and see if there are any compatibility concerns with the new components.
Obtain a B350 with GTX 1006, 6GB RAM and 16GB storage. On Windows it may still start properly, but you’ll have to reinstall the motherboard drivers and reactivate. Certain drivers should remain functional since the hardware stays compatible. For Windows activation, attempt to activate online first; once online, you’ll only need to contact them. After the activation passes the threshold, your previous audio from Realtek should work without issues, and the new board will use the updated driver automatically.
It really depends on the Windows version you're using. OEM support varies significantly between different releases—Win7, Win8/.1, and Win10 all behave differently. Also, whether it's a prebuilt unit adds another layer of uncertainty. You're likely to have a 50-50 chance it will work or encounter BSODs at startup.
