He observed a video showing someone using Steam OS with Rocket League, but it suffered from very low frame rates and was difficult to play. Whether the operating system affects gaming depends on the game and personal preferences.

Only a handful of games get perfect optimization (such as Left 4 Dead), but most will perform significantly better on Windows because the drivers are tailored for that system.

Windows 95 Microsoft introduced DirectX, now the standard for most contemporary game engines. Modern GPUs are designed for this support. Linux and OSX focus on Vulkan and OpenGL, which add more complexity and aren't ideal for current engines and games.

It's accurate that a 550 Ti is preferable to a 650M. While Rocket League performs better on Windows, especially with a hackintosh setup, that's not a solid comparison.

A 650M should handle Rocket League smoothly at a steady frame rate. I agree with your perspective.

My claim conflicts with your perspective because while many systems prioritize DirectX, others treat OpenGL equally. Benchmarks show that certain source engine titles perform comparably on Steam OS as on Windows.

Only the drivers were considered, but hardware, frameworks, and L4D2 stand out. CSGO performs poorly with OpenGL, for instance.
