I own a ThinkPad X250 Laptop and recently noticed a strange buzzing noise. It was brief and mostly came from the left side of the device. Until a few days later, it stopped charging completely. The original charger recognized it but displayed "Not charging." I also tried another Linux distribution just to rule out the issue, but the same problem occurred.

I removed the external battery and used the internal one instead, then turned off and unplugged the internal battery before using only the external one. Both attempts failed to charge it properly. Performance also dropped noticeably. Although both batteries appeared in good condition, I’ll need to check their health again.

I’m not an expert, so I took it to a repair shop who said it worked fine for them and didn’t have any problems with their charger. I’m quite frustrated by the lack of guidance and am worried this issue might happen again soon.

I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to diagnose or fix the problem without causing more damage. Thanks in advance.

Pass the SKU along to your Thinkpad x250.
It might be worth noting that the power delivery parts on the laptop’s motherboard could have failed, possibly causing the battery to stop charging.
You mention both batteries are still in good condition, but you’re curious about their age.
You say the repair shop couldn’t reproduce the problem. Did you check this directly there, while it was being serviced? If yes, then the only change since you left home would be the power source – the wall outlet.

How can I locate the SKU? I think it’s the model number—20CL001AUS.
The external battery seems fresh, around six months old, with full capacity remaining. The internal one appears to be the original; it’s worn out but its health is at 55%, which is low, though I thought it would drop much lower before refusing to charge. Still, I’m not an expert and don’t have a definitive answer.
Yes, the shop provided videos showing it was charging properly. I currently have it fully charged. I usually connect the charger to a power strip, which is brand new, and I’m using it with an older laptop, so the problem might lie elsewhere.
