I've had an AM3+ board and decided to assemble a custom build using an FX-6300 and a GTX 750 Ti. I confirmed the CPU was functional, but the GPU performance was only about 70%. After testing various GPUs, I realized the motherboard isn't compatible and overheats near the chip. Is it worth attempting a repair?

It depends on your choice. Have you checked the CMOS battery? Are you using a cooler during installation?

Which specific motherboard? If it includes a postcode, we know the issue. Otherwise, it has PCI slots—you can purchase a $3 PCI debug card, also called a PC analyzer, to read postcodes.
