Hey everybody, I'm having a hard time trying to restore this old laptop to working order to help my dad recover some work files. First of all, I get: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1) type errors on bootup. This tells me there's something wrong with the boot loader, but the system gives me no options for repair. Just reboots and doesn't allow me to go into safe mode every time I try. I've burned a WinXP ISO to a CD-Rom, but now the system doesn't recognize the disc despite configuring the boot order to read from the CD drive. The thing I may try next is to put the ISO on a usb flash drive and try to boot from there (if perhaps the cd drive is faulty). When all is said and done, I'd like to make this a working XP machine and to recover those work files. I've followed Windows 7 automated procedure in autoplay for formatting the disc before burning and everything on my working laptop. Been having trouble figuring this out. Any help would be appreciated!

To recover the system, connect the hard drive to your desktop computer using a SATA power and data cable if available.

I didn't expect that, thank you. I have some available areas on my desktop.
