The old computer stopped working, probably due to the power supply unit.
Yesterday morning I accidentally turned off the computer by pressing the power button, but in the afternoon it kept restarting every few minutes. In the evening, after leaving it alone, it seemed fine and worked for hours without any problems. I even left it on overnight and it didn’t restart. Now it won’t turn on at all. It’s an A13 year old system.
I’m struggling with money atm, so I’m thinking about buying a better power supply for my next system now. I plan to use it to check my current one. Even if it’s not a PSU issue, I won’t waste money. Is this a good idea? Or should I be checking something simpler first?
Thanks, thanks 🙏 ☺️
That alone shouldn't lead to total failure of the computer. It's merely an aggressive method of shutting down Windows when the machine freezes. Performing this action repeatedly can trigger Repair Mode during the third restart. Occasionally, Windows fails to resolve itself properly, leaving you with a non-booting system.
If you're relying on the original power supply unit, it's the most probable cause and switching it could resolve the issue.
Please share full information about your system.
Check if Windows 10 Home Edition is 64-bit. It has 16 GB RAM, 4 dimensions, 2500 MHz, GTX 960. I noticed the main fan also stopped working, though I'm not sure if it only activated during high load.
The CPU cooler fan is crucial; if it fails to spin or isn't recognized, the system may power off to avoid overheating the CPU.
If you're considering purchasing a new psu, be ready to invest significantly in both power and performance. A high-quality psu typically comes with a warranty lasting between seven to twelve years. Modern graphics cards often require more power than they normally use, possibly reaching 850 watts or higher. The most efficient psu will function optimally within the middle of its power range, drawing only the necessary amount of energy. Corsair RM and Seasonic models with ten-year warranties are excellent options to explore. Avoid buying a psu at a low price.
