NVMe and SATA differ. There are both M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe options. Prior to SATA, there was PATA, which functioned as a master/slave interface known as IDE—the drive technology I mentioned. The exact location of the NVMe component isn’t clear. If it’s at the end of the SATA section, it could be more prone to damage. Ohhh! The information provided suggests an update to the Bios may be necessary. If this isn't feasible, it could indicate the M.2 lanes were removed by the board.
m.2 sata is a key m.2 nvme is m key—uncertain about the basics, but they operate at sata speeds. Most m.2 drives are m key compatible, though b&m and b ones are still possible. Just for completeness, the key is wifi-only and the slots are often vertical. *adjusted one of the wall images slightly* Edited January 3, 2023 by Bombastinator
I appreciate everyone who attempted to assist... it's wonderful to be in a positive environment with helpful individuals looking for solutions. To be honest, I realize my SSD, motherboard, or both M.2 ports might be faulty—that wasn't the goal I had in mind. I have two questions: first, can both the SSD and M.2 ports fail simultaneously? Second, is there a method to test those M.2 ports without needing a replacement SSD? And please, thank you for not fully understanding my message or skipping parts of it.
It’s conceivable but very rare unless you eliminate the other two. Not something I’m aware of.
Appreciate the effort—finally, someone gets straight to the point.
