The NVME SSD ceased to boot after the installation in the second position.
Hello. I own a Samsung 970 Evo 1TB with Windows 10 installed. Last week I found a good price on a WD SN850X 2TB and decided to purchase it. The SSD arrived today and I installed it in the second M.2 slot. Then I encountered a BSOD with error code 0x0000008e. After rebooting, the PC wouldn't boot at all ("Reboot and Select the proper Boot device" error). I attempted to install another Windows on the new SSD, but checked the old one—everything was fine. All files were present, yet Windows wouldn't start. The BIOS had storage boot enabled in "UEFI only." If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.
Did you attempt to remove the new SSD and check if it still boots? Often with devices like this, boot settings can become mixed up. Since you now have several Windows drives, you’ll need to take out one to test. I don’t notice any reference to disabling M.2 slots, so it likely isn’t affecting port functionality.
Observed absence of the system partition in the older SSD... What causes this to vanish? Order 3 - install new SSD 4 - replace old SSD
