The Nvidia GPU is having issues, whereas the AMD GPU is functioning correctly.
I couldn't locate anyone else facing the same issue, so I tried to tackle it myself. I was very detailed since I've encountered similar situations before. A few months back, I purchased a new computer equipped with a Ryzen 5 5600G APU, GIGABYTE AORUS B550 PRO AC 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, CL 16 Vengeance, a 750W PSU, and a 970 EVO SSD. Due to the GPU shortage, I opted for an APU temporarily and planned to get a GPU later.
On the day I assembled the system, not all adjustable RGB lights were active—only red and orange colors appeared. I didn’t mind much about the lighting and, since the APU exceeded my expectations, I went ahead.
After some time, I added an old GPU from a friend (confirmed twice it worked fine). It was a GTX 1650 with dual fans and GDDR5. However, when I connected it to my rig, strange things happened. The first boot ran smoothly and delivered impressive FPS in Valorant, which is CPU-intensive but still better than the APU.
After installing the drivers and testing the GPU, I tried adding a second SSD, which only had games installed. I installed it on an older machine I owned, but after five months with no updates or OS changes, I didn’t have any drivers or system files.
Eventually, after restarting and checking for updates, my peripherals connected and disconnected repeatedly, accompanied by annoying Windows sounds. The issue vanished quickly, but when I launched Valorant again, everything started to reconnect and disconnect.
I went into the BIOS and changed the PCIe setting to Gen 3 instead of Auto, but it didn’t help. I assumed the LED problems were resolved, so I sent it back. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a refund, though they sent it back for repair. After eight weeks, it was finally returned. They claimed a "BIOS ERROR" was fixed—a strange occurrence for such a complex issue.
Once everything was reinstalled, the boot screen appeared, Windows detected my GPU, installed drivers and a game, and I tested again. Unfortunately, it still didn’t work. I then asked a friend to lend me his old Radeon RX 270X. It performed flawlessly and delivered solid FPS.
I decided that the problem might have been with the GPU. I ordered an RTX 3060, hoping for a better result. It arrived today, and when I installed it, the same issue resurfaced. Now I’m unsure whether it was a hardware fault or just my setup.
If anyone has insights or solutions, please share. I’m running out of ideas.
P.S.: Hope this isn’t a major issue and that it’s something simple to fix.
Does "reset" refer to reinstalling Windows or using its built-in reset tool? You might want to perform a complete wipe and reinstall to ensure AMD drivers for the APU aren't automatically reinstalled. Consider also disabling the iGPU to check for conflicts.
The system's built-in Windows reset tool functioned initially, but after multiple reboots the issue reappeared. I plan to retain the iGPU settings and remain open to testing it again later.
