Hello! Your setup looks solid with all components in place. The issue you're experiencing—fans spinning and power cycling when you press the power button—could stem from a few factors. It seems the 8-pin CPU connector is likely the key here, as your motherboard supports it while ignoring the 4-pin one. Try connecting the 8-pin CPU cable directly to the motherboard. If that resolves the problem, the issue might be related to the power supply or fan control circuitry. Also, ensure the power button is fully seated and the case isn't blocking airflow. Let me know what you find!

Connect all the pins, ignore online advice unless you’re ready. Also verify USB devices aren’t causing shorts in the PC, such as fans or similar components.

On most motherboards, having both an 8-pin and a 4-pin connection means you only require the 8-pin type to operate. The additional 4-pin provides extra power, which is beneficial for high-power CPUs and overclocking.

Absolutely, starting with the default settings isn't ideal and complicates debugging. It's possible there might be an issue like a misaligned pin.

Remove all unnecessary components. Unplug the front panel IO (power button and remaining parts). Check if the system bridging power button header works. Confirm motherboard standoffs are in place and ensure no rear-IO shield contacts USB ports inside.

You connected only the CPU and MOTO cable, but the device remains unresponsive. No connection detected on your USB ports either.

Abbreviation for the electrical cord. When all components except the CPU and motherboard are removed, this covers the front panel connections and without them the device won’t power up. The power button manages a path via the front panel header to communicate with the PSU through the board.

The PC behaved identically when the motherboard lacked the required BIOS for the CPU.
