Hi, I encountered this problem recently. I was playing MH Wilds on a new rig I just purchased and it suddenly stopped during the alt tab. The cursor moved but everything froze. After restarting, the PC wouldn’t boot, but the CPU and DRAM lights were visible on the motherboard. I removed the RAM one by one, tried replacing them, but nothing worked. Then I reinstalled the cooler and a single RAM slot, and it functioned properly. The other RAM also worked again. What’s going on? Could this happen again? Is there something wrong with the setup? All components are new and were bought three months ago. Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi (MS-7E12), CPU AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Gskill 16x2 DDR5.

Consider getting an 8GB memory stick with various RAM options. If it functions, you’ll know your RAM is the issue; otherwise, it might be a CPU problem.

Everything is functioning properly now, I just verified that the BIOs were reinitialized after restoring all components.

There are multiple factors to examine which should probably fix the problem. (A key step is verifying and applying BIOS updates.) I also shared a guide on updating drivers, not BIOS.

It's unclear, but I think MH has crashed a few times for me too. It seems like the system closes abruptly. This might be due to a minor BIOS mismatch, which a BIOS update could resolve. Did you enable XMP and what speeds were used?

XMP was already running in auto BIOS and has been updated to the newest version.

Are there alternative choices besides XMP Auto? You can try profiles like XMP 1. Also, verify XMP with a manual DRAM voltage increase to around 1.355 or 1.36 volts. It's completely safe and might fix the issue. If you lack those options, adjust your MH Wilds launch settings to -dx11 to check if performance improves (even if it causes more crashes). If successful, we're likely dealing with a memory instability—possibly CPU IMC, RAM, or motherboard.

through a few tests I discovered the problem was that the NVMe slot wasn’t getting power and would suddenly stop working. I swapped it out, and everything is now functioning properly. I’m still puzzled as to why the slot itself might be faulty.

I explored various methods to reach this conclusion.
