The new R5 3600 requires a single RAM stick to power up.

I've been using an R5 1600 with an Asrock X370 killer SLI/Ac setup and 4x4GB 2400 Ballistix sport RAM for several years. Recently, I upgraded to a 3600 but only got one stick installed at a time. I've tried all four sticks across the four slots, and they function properly when only one is active. I've also cleared the CMOS multiple times without success. The fans spin and then suddenly stop, after which everything restarts.

Could it start using all four RAM modules and retain the 1600 MHz speed? If yes, it might be a faulty BIOS—there should be an older version that supports the 3600 MHz that you could reinstall.

I haven't tested the 1600 yet, though it functioned with an earlier model that also supported the 3600. Both faced the same issue with a single RAM stick. I might consider trying another previous version.

I've tested the jumper and removed the battery. I pulled the battery but got sidetracked, leaving it out for about an hour.

Some BIOS updates aren't helpful. I plan to check both CPU versions for each BIOS release to gather more information.

The 1600 has been compatible with all BIOS versions, but I haven’t tried the newest one. I only tested the 3600, which failed with more than one RAM stick using another BIOS.
