I improved my system and replaced the motherboard with an MSI B870x WiFi 7, a Ryzen 9 9800X3D, a Radeon 9070XT, and a 1000-watt power supply. I've assembled computers before and am currently stuck trying to resolve issues. After booting or resetting the CMOS, it takes about a minute and then enters a bootcode 00. Any subsequent boots get stuck on code 99. I've removed all USB devices, cleared NVMe drives, and tested RAM individually. What further steps can I take to troubleshoot?
The motherboard you mentioned isn’t available, so I can’t search for it. Check your manual—either online or in the box—to understand those codes. A quick search for codes 99 and 00 with MSI suggests a CPU initialization problem, possibly due to power issues. Make sure all power cables are securely connected on both the motherboard and the PSU. If the issue persists, take out the CPU cooler and CPU, then examine the socket for any damaged pins.
Seems consistent with what Google and the motherboard guide indicate. IO initialization issues and CPU critical failure are likely. I’d still try my suggested steps first.
