Let me explain this in a simpler way. I’m just starting out with building my PC, and I’ve been having trouble getting it to display properly on my screen. For the last week or so, I’ve been seeing a CPU light even when I try different things. I’ve checked my setup and tried updating the BIOS, but nothing seems to work. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve done and my current specs.

The first board I bought was an MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X. It came with Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600 RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6750X. I ran a test with the CPU fan on and connected it to MOBO, which showed a red CPU debug light. I did some troubleshooting and thought it might be due to a BIOS update. Since I couldn’t even get my setup into the BIOS for updates, I got a new MOBO—an MSI X570S Tomahawk with Wi-Fi. I tried pre-testing again, but the CPU light kept coming up. This time I suspected the CPU itself might be faulty.

I replaced the CPU with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. I went through another pre-test (CPU fans plugged in but not mounted), and the same CPU light appeared. But this time there were some differences: first, the CPU lights would flash before settling, then after a few seconds the CPU would blink three times before showing up in VGA debug mode. It’s confusing, but it seems like something simple might be going wrong.

The BIOS for both CPUs didn’t need updating, and the VGA light worked fine with the B550. Neither CPU had bent pins. I’m not sure what’s causing the flickering between lights, but I’m still stuck and unsure of next steps.

Normal startup causes those indicators to flash in a specific sequence. They typically halt at the section with the issue. Allow them to function. Consult the manual for the motherboard to understand what the actual error light signifies.
