Hello, I recently assembled my first computer. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a 7800X3d, 4070 Super, and a Gigabyte X670 gaming ax v2. I’m using a Thermaltake 750W GF1. Yesterday everything functioned perfectly—all fans operated at PWM speed, I completed all Windows updates, and the BIOS was refreshed following a Jays2Cents guide. I turned on XMP, low latency, and boosted bandwidth, and after a few game sessions I restarted the system. Now today the power button on the case doesn’t respond, the motherboard power button (short) is unresponsive, and toggling the PSU switch has no effect. Is the power supply unit dead or has my whole setup failed? I’ve used it continuously for about four hours without any problems, and there’s no coil whine from the PSU. HELP!

Have you attempted connecting the device to a different power source?

I've checked various ports and power connections, swapped out cables multiple times, unplugged and reattached the motherboard power cable, and even the GPU cable. I also looked at the power supply side and components. However, after following the guide to jump the 4th pins on the motherboard cables to start the fan, I didn't notice any power signal from the supply.

It seems you're asking about what might have led to the power supply unit failing when it wasn't in use. Could you clarify if you're referring to a specific device or situation? I'm here to help identify potential causes.

It's uncertain, but it might have been the faulty surge protector I had. During shutdown it failed, though I'd probably think a current PSU could handle minor power issues. More likely it was defective. I sent it back without checking further. A new UPS would offer better protection.
