I’m really struggling but keep trying everything. After the mining crash, I decided to jump back into PC gaming and bought various components. I got a used 3080 graphics card, Corsair RAM, and new parts for the fans, processor, power supply, and motherboard from Amazon. For the first couple of weeks it all worked fine. Then one day I noticed sudden freezes and black screens where the monitor showed no signal. Reconnecting the display port and power cable didn’t fix it. In Event Viewer I saw a lot of error codes. I updated drivers, ran memory tests, re-seated the GPU, reconnected cables, tried a clean boot, switched ports and cables, checked disk health, uninstalled iCue, removed RAM overclock, updated the system, and more—I can’t remember many details. At first I thought it was just from running demanding games, but sometimes black screens appeared even when watching movies or typing. I asked fellow users on the Windows forum about a possible GPU issue, but WhoCrashed users mostly said CPU problems were involved. They suggested changing the registry Start value from 3 to 4, but that didn’t help. Sometimes the crashes would restart themselves and create a crash dump. If it might help, I’ve shared some logs here: https://gofile.io/d/IRDPYI. My system specs are: Windows 10 Pro 21H2, Corasir Vengance RAM 2x8GB, 3200MHz, Asus Strix B550-F Gaming, EVGA RTX 3080, 12 GB EVGA Supernova G7, 750W, Ryzen 5 5600. Please let me know if I missed anything. I nearly spent $1200 and it’s really frustrating to think it could be wasted.

I don’t have logs, but I rely on MSI Afterburner to track wattage and temperatures. The CPU reaches its limit near 86 while the GPU stays around 65, averaging between 200 and 320 watts based on the game. One of my first checks was confirming each port on my 3080 had a separate cable—no pigtailing. I plan to reinstall Windows too; it was a fresh install since I kept the same drive that housed my OS, but I needed to reactivate it with a new license.

Are you running the most recent BIOS updates? The newest version was just released a few days back. Additionally, the latest AMD chipset drivers address certain Blue Screen and Black Screen problems. https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am4/x570 Do your graphics card also support the current vBIOS release?

It doesn't seem sufficient. Multiple drivers might interact. It's advisable to reinstall Windows completely using a USB drive. You can search online for more details.

It's frustrating, but I'd definitely suggest a Windows update or reset. You can do it via the Settings app if you don’t have a detachable USB drive. Reinstalling everything will be tedious, but it’s preferable to dealing with frequent crashes.

CPU temperature on the CPU is excessive. Navigate to BIOS and adjust the CPU fan speed to 100% at 60°C. If temperatures remain above 65-75°C, consider upgrading your cooling solution.

Did you run DDU in safe mode during the driver swap? The newest version isn’t the best fit for your GPU or games. It might need more testing, but it’s worth trying. For troubleshooting, stick to the driver that came with your GPU only.
