Hey, I’m just starting out with tech. I wanted to upgrade my cooler because the old one wasn’t handling the heat anymore. I ended up getting the Kraken Elite RGm 280mm, but the mounting isn’t fitting since the threads are too short from my previous model. It’s giving me a few different options for installation, but I’m not sure how to take out the old setup or install the new one. A lot of the tutorials look confusing, and I’m having trouble following them.

The solution for fitting Intel into your setup is still unclear, but you can try adjusting the layout to accommodate it.

The four screws at the corners were originally attached to a backplate, much like the one you’re holding. Most of the plate is located on the back of your motherboard, and these screws pass through four holes in it. If you can’t reuse the current mount, you’ll need to take the motherboard out of the case, allowing access to both sides. Then remove the old backplate, unscrew the corner mounting screws, and take out the existing plate before putting the new one on. If your case has a cutout in the motherboard tray that lets you reach the back area, you might be able to swap it without removing the tray entirely—just watch for gravity effects.

I switched the cooler because the connectors they gave didn’t match the existing ones on my motherboard, as explained by NZXT. The updated cooler works perfectly now.
