Thanks for checking out my recent upgrade! Last week I swapped in an Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming motherboard with Wi-Fi II to replace my old Auros X370-Gaming 5 setup. To match it up, I also got a Kingston SK Hynix 64GB (2x32) stick. Everything else stayed the same.
Old configuration: Auros X370-Gaming 5 AMD 5600X processor (got it to run on X370), 64GB RAM (4x16), Samsung Pro M.2 1TB SSD, Radeon 6700XT Dual with HDMI and DisplayPort ports, plus a Samsung LC27F396FHNXZA monitor connected via HDMI. It’s an older rig, but it worked perfectly.
Now the new build: I installed the B550-F Gaming motherboard and Kingston memory, keeping all other parts unchanged. Power comes from a Coolermaster 1000W modular PSU with Windows 11.
New setup: B550-F Gaming with Kingston 64GB (2x32) – installed in A2 and B2 slots. No other changes.
The problem is: On the previous system, I ran both monitors without issues. But now, only one can run at a time. Here’s what I’ve tried:
- BIOS tweaks (ASPWM, updates, rollbacks)
- GPU BIOS updates or rollbacks
- Power cable swaps for the GPU
- PSU connection changes
- New monitor cables
- Resetting the GPU after plugging in
- Updating Windows and drivers
- Testing the Samsung HDMI monitor via DisplayPort adapter
- Checking individual connections
When both monitors are connected together, the B550-F triggers a long beep followed by three short beeps with a white troubleshoot light – indicating a GPU fault. When connected separately, it works fine on its own.
I’ve also considered checking BIOS settings or GPU-specific configurations, but so far it seems the issue is with dual-monitor compatibility. My next move is to try another monitor (preferably newer) and see if it connects properly through one of the DisplayPort ports.

It's possible your device is outdated and not compatible with DVI; consider using a different adapter if all your system components are current. It might mean your display isn't interpreting the signal correctly.
I was curious about that. Was my reason for getting a new monitor just a cover story?
