The new laptop battery is not functioning properly.
I purchased this "authentic" M3800 Dell battery replacement: https://www.cabatteriespc.com/dell-lapto...7EQAvD_BwE It operates for roughly 1 to 1.5 hours from full charge down to about 30% and then stops abruptly. Even though the labels and components match the original, I suspect it might be counterfeit. Why is the battery life so short? Could the laptop be sending incorrect signals to the battery?
This battery is meant for a 10/11 year old PC. If it’s original, it might not be the best choice since it hasn’t been used recently. A Chinese copy would give you fresh parts instead.
The explanation is that it matched the 61wh version of the original, whereas the 40wh Chinese ones didn’t. In short, it was a scam.
It seems unclear what was intended, but it appears you received a product matching the description. Were there assurances about its quality or durability?
The product is labeled as Manufactured by: Clevo. It seems to be recent, not ten years old. We reached out to the seller who may offer a refund or replacement. Would replacing it be a good choice? If not, what alternative should I consider? Also, note that when the laptop reported low battery, the voltage was 10.8V, which matches the minimum level—no confusion between the battery and the device.
I checked the site for an X380 new battery and found a recent Reddit discussion about their experience. They mentioned competitive pricing, which is helpful if you're concerned about resolving your issue. Also, I saw several listings offering prices below specifications during my search.
