Approximately two weeks ago I assembled a new PC, and everything functioned properly until it shut down. The fans stayed on continuously, which was unusual. Once the power went off, the system displayed a blue screen. I haven’t used it much yet, mostly installing programs from my old machine during downtime. Today I tried to turn it on and encountered a blue screen or freezing on the BIOS splash. I attempted to repair the installation, but it froze again when starting. I tried two BIOS updates, still experiencing BSOD and freezes. I also reinstalled Windows, but it froze during startup as well. It appears the system freezes with a BSOD whenever it attempts to operate Windows. The only accessible options are the BIOS settings and the system repair interface. I built a nearly identical setup without these problems.

I have the following components:
- ASROCK B650M PG AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
- 16GB Crucial Pro Overclocking
- Lexar NM710 1TB
- MSI MAG A750GL
- PCIE5 3*
- Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM 5060 TI
- 16GB Windows 11 Pro

Check if XMP or EXPO is active. Specify the precise amount of RAM you're using.

I just finished assembling a 9800X3D system, and noticed the CPU struggled with the DDR5-6400 EXPO profile. It triggered a BSOD, caused game crashes, and failed memory stability checks within about ten minutes.

Reset any overclocking on your components and eliminate EXPO overclocks if applicable. Because you have two systems, you might also attempt to replace parts individually to identify the faulty one.

The DDR5-5600 16GB RAM was configured in auto mode without any XMP or expo settings. I used the standard 1.1V configuration and didn’t modify the BIOS beyond disabling RGB lighting.

One stick of RAM in A2 (verify the manual) if it doesn’t work, then try swapping the second stick in A2. Remember to keep track of what you changed and avoid asking for help.

Only power and fans stayed on after changes. RAM swaps didn't help, whether single stick or from the working device. Removing the GPU failed—adjusting M.2 drive position or replacement didn't resolve it either. Switching CPU between good and bad systems didn't transfer the problem. It seems the issue lies with the motherboard, or maybe I missed something I can verify? Could the power supply unit be the cause?

It might be the power supply you can simply plug in outside the machine without needing to rewire everything. Just use the 24-pin CPU, rely on the built-in graphics, skip the GPU, and give it a try. If it boots smoothly and stays stable, you can add the GPU later.

Used the PSU from the good machine into the bad one again, same problem. Updated June 4, 2025 by relo999 clearity

Process the mobile if everything else functions in the other system, just perform one final step and verify the standoff count after removing the mobile. The number of holes in the mobile matches the standoff, indicating no unintended shorts. Likely, the mobile was already faulty, so it should have been detected.
