My spec list includes the following components:

MBD: MSI B550M PRO VDH WiFi (purchased from Amazon Warehouse)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X (used)
GPU: XFX RX 6600 XT (used)
RAM: 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 (used but still under warranty, bought 5 months ago)
PSU: NZXT C750 Gold (new)
Attempts to boot into an OS have caused the PC to restart with the DRAM indicator flashing briefly. I can access the BIOS without issues, but problems arise when trying to install an operating system:
- Windows 11 installer: reboots after a few seconds once the boot spinner appears
- Memtest 86: performed twice at about 50% or 60% completion before random reboots
- OpenSUSE Tumbleweed installer: navigates GRUB menu successfully 90% of the time, but boots fail when attempting live CD or GUI installers

I have disabled Secure Boot and tested various configurations—different RAM, CPU, and motherboard combinations. I moved the motherboard out of the case and followed all tips from the installation guide, yet the PC still reboots after a short delay.

I’ve tried both the latest BETA and non-BETA versions of the BIOS. I can easily return the motherboard to Amazon, but I’m curious—what do you think might be the main issue?

Thanks in advance.

Swapping the motherboard worked. I won't buy any more from Amazon Warehouse.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Curious about where you obtained the installer for your Windows OS?
I experimented with both the newest BETA and non-BETA BIOS versions.
It’s best to stick with one BIOS version and the most recent one available. Reflash using the latest version listed here:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550M-PR...FI/support
then clear the CMOS.

The RAM slots should ideally be A2 and B2. It’s important to verify that all components, including connectors, are securely installed.
You might want to check if a friend has a B550 or B450 motherboard with the correct BIOS version to test your processor—this could help identify the faulty CPU.

I would begin with 4 to 8 hours of MEMTEST --
https://www.memtest86.com/
This will check if your motherboard is stable.
If no errors appear after several testing sessions, you can proceed.
Any errors indicate an issue.

Here are the answers you requested.
Thank you for your responses.
From the original media creator at Microsoft.
By "latest" you're referring to beta or non-beta? I've tested both and then reset the CMOS twice. I'm currently using the non-beta version, but might consider the beta tomorrow.
A minor question: does resetting the CMOS by removing the small battery mean shorting the nearby pins? I've always done the latter.
I typically use the second and fourth slots, though I've experimented with most positions. I've also tried using just both RAM sticks separately. I pressed them firmly and double-checked.
It's unlikely, but I might attempt it as a last resort.
The issue is that the system reboots unexpectedly even during Memtest. During normal operation it takes less than an hour to restart, I've already tried twice and may try again tomorrow.

Minor adjustment to my recent efforts
- Updated the BIOS to the latest version (beta)
- Reset CMOS using both the battery and jumper methods
- Performed power cycles
- Disabled Secure Boot
- Ran Memtest86 approximately 20 times; reboots happened after a few minutes or even seconds
- Skipped tests, but they seemed unnecessary
- Attempted to split CPU count for testing, but outcomes remained unchanged
- Tested using only one core via BIOS settings, results identical
I haven’t encountered any errors in all these attempts. Just restarting with the DRAM flashing for a brief moment now.
I’m considering returning the motherboard and purchasing a new one, as that’s the only option I have right now.
