The network switch ceased functioning unexpectedly.
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out my network switch. This morning I tried to use my PC but couldn't connect to the internet. I checked everything—cables, the switch, even rebooted the PC—but nothing worked. The port lights were on, suggesting a connection, yet the PC wouldn't reach any network. It feels like the Ethernet cable isn't actually connected anywhere.
Before moving forward, let's review my routing setup: Shaw Modem in Bridge Mode, TP-Link Router, Network Switch (no internet on any device), PC MacBook Pro, Home Server, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Apple TV 4K, and Wifi—all working fine.
I tested plugging the router’s cable into the switch, then into my MacBook, and suddenly the internet lights up. When I put it back in the router, checked all connections, and plugged the MacBook in again, there was still no signal. Now I think the switch might not be receiving any signal from the router. I powered off the router, checked its backend, and it seems the switch isn’t showing up on the router’s website at all—something strange since everything worked yesterday.
Anyone have a clue?
I turned off everything except my MacBook, then the internet lights came on. I re-enabled the PC and internet worked fine. Restoring Unraid brought back the full internet connection. After rebooting the Unraid server, it functioned properly.
I remember you had a problem with your AP after switching to my Comcast last week. It worked well for the first couple of days, but then the speed dropped. I didn’t see any issue with the cable connection, but there was an error message appearing over time.
