This was my first motherboard with a chipset fan. By default, it spins up when the chipset hits 60°C. Personally, I prefer it to stay cooler, especially when idling in the mid to high 50s. It also reaches 80°C during gaming (thanks to Corsair Link 4 that monitors chipset temps). I set a manual curve in the BIOS to help lower the temperature. Now it idles between 40-45°C, which is much better. I’m worried about the fan wearing out quickly because it’s small, but I’m not sure if it will last long. My main worry is how reliable it really is—please let me know what you think for an MSI MPG Gaming Plus X570.
No one has a definitive solution yet, but most people report success with x570 boards after just six months. For better cooling on Gigabyte systems, swapping the thermal pad for real thermal paste seems effective, often cutting temperatures by around 10°C.
