Mobo: I’m experiencing a strange problem with my setup. After setting the CPU overclock to 3.8GHz and using 3000Mhz RAM, everything functioned properly. Now the computer won’t boot unless an overclock is applied, and it reports only 15.9GB usable out of 32GB. Turning it on today shows no changes—no overclocks work, yet the available space remains at 15.9GB. After reseating the CPU, the issue disappeared. This happened about two weeks ago.
The memory is rated at a certain speed. Were you adjusting the voltage levels?
3000 MHz and 1.35 GHz were the settings it was configured for... I manually adjusted the values 16-18-18-18-36, tried XMP but didn’t get results, and the auto-settings took over. I’ve used this chip at 4.0 GHz with 3000 MHz RAM.

Hello, following these steps consistently helps. Keep the BIOS updated for better performance. Take a break and relax by making a cafe. Swap the memory slots instead of mixing them. Before upgrading to a 3900x, I used a 1600 with 4GHz OC and ran at 1600MHz with 4GB RAM. On my 3900x, I’m using 2666MHz RAM at 3200MHz CL16 with all four sticks working well. Good luck!
I'm at 3.9 GHz and temperatures are in the 30s. There seems to be an issue with either the CPU or RAM.
It required 3.8ghz and 3000mhz on the RAM, then it stopped working after a day and wouldn’t respond. I didn’t attempt any CPU overclocking on the RAM, and the system wouldn’t boot. Windows only showed 15.9 out of 32GB available. On the positive side, I was able to raise the CPU frequency from 3.8 to 3.9ghz, which allowed me to overclock it. The RAM problem still needs fixing. Earlier, I resolved it by swapping one stick and getting 24GB, but it let me reach 3000mhz after reseating the CPU. I replaced two of the four sticks, following the replacement instructions, as one was acting odd. The new RAM’s BIOS is fully updated—this version has a more “gamified” update, and when you install it, it appears as a standard BIOS. The comment about overclocking support was misleading; it actually supports it better now.
The Asus Rog Strix B450 update didn’t go through. I sold a 130$ board for $40 on Craigslist and someone fixed its BIOS, giving me a working one. Later I bought another board, only to discover it wouldn’t support SLI. Then I switched to the Taichi X370, which turned out to be a decent choice. I still don’t recall why that model failed, but I was able to return it and got a new one on eBay. My current board is the least favorite I’ve had so far, though I really liked the Strix B450!
