I completed my 1700 rig, but it won’t allow me to overclock. The game’s settings say the CPU doesn’t support it, and when I try to increase performance by enabling boost, the frequency stays at auto. I installed the newest BIOS, but I’m still unsure what else I can do.

Just to mention this, I also have an MSI tomahawk b350, but it won’t let me overclock in the BIOS either.
I’ve started using Ryzen Master at startup, which sets the top to 3.7 ghz with stock voltages.
I can run it all day without exceeding 50c in most games or applications.
It’s a bit disappointing that I can’t overclock in the BIOS, and I’m hoping it’s just a bug that will be fixed soon.

They're just enough for R7 1700, let alone for overclocking.

Since... marketing... the last time you noticed genuine honesty in ads. For OC and MBs, the priority is checking the VRM area; if it's weak, OC will face significant restrictions.

I understand your point, and it's true there are fewer heat sinks on the B350 compared to my 970 MSI gaming mainboard. However, do you think I should still achieve at least some OC performance across all eight cores, such as a stable 3.7 steady state?

I have finished setting up my 1700 rig, but it doesn’t allow me to overclock. The CPU says it doesn’t support it when I try to use the boost option in the game. My CPU frequency is stuck at auto mode even after installing the latest BIOS. Any suggestions?

1. Restore your system to the default settings.
2. Choose a suitable frequency rather than Auto, such as 3500.
3. Keep the CPU voltage in Auto mode.
4. Complete the process and you're finished.
