The MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X OC mode isn't functioning within the MSI Gaming app.
I'm experiencing difficulties with the MSI Gaming X MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X. The "Gaming Mode" appears functional, with base clock at 1683 MHz and boost reaching up to 1923 MHz under optimal conditions (the highest I've observed). However, when attempting to use "OC mode," the CPU (i7 6700k) is set to 4.4 GHz, but for the GPU it remains capped at 1683 MHz—this matches the base clock shown in MSI's documentation when using Gaming Mode.
This inconsistency suggests a potential mismatch between the settings displayed and the actual values applied. It seems the card isn't automatically adjusting its core clock to match the desired settings in OC mode. To resolve this, you may need to manually adjust the GPU settings in OC mode to ensure stability across different modes. There might be an issue with the BIOS configuration or driver compatibility that hasn't been addressed yet.
Check if any updates are available for the card or its drivers, and consider consulting MSI's support resources for further guidance. If the problem persists after these steps, it could indicate a deeper hardware or software conflict that requires professional assistance.
I solved my issue by trying additional games and noticed the card doesn't increase performance in some of them. Running MSI afterburner during testing helped me see that the Core Clock speeds aren't fixed at 1683 MHz, just for specific games like CS:GO.
