My movie server won't allow the monitor to reach full sleep mode. The screen turns black, yet the power indicator switches from off to on every ten seconds. After roughly an hour of inactivity, the display fails to return until I restart the computer, though the PC remains responsive and doesn’t freeze. I can still use it to stream movies over LAN with no lag.

I’ve built my PC at home for 25 years. It’s an Intel i5-13600k system with 32GB Corsair DDR5 RAM, an Asus Z790 motherboard, no GPU via IGUI, a SATA LSI card, and eight Seagate HDDs. I have two NVMe Samsung 990 drives and an Evga 850 watt high-end monitor. Windows 11 is configured to never sleep the drives or OS, but it only puts the monitor to sleep.

I've encountered a comparable problem on another platform; reinstalling the motherboard chipset drivers fixed it.
Visit this link to verify that all your Intel drivers are current:

All current information available. I've also attempted a reinstall of Windows without success. Might the LSI SATA card be the issue, given its placement in slot 1 for the GPU area?

I wouldn't think so. Maybe try a different available slot to check if it helps.

It seems more probable that a Windows configuration issue is at play, instead of a hardware problem.
You can certainly choose to turn off your display completely.

Even when I close the screen, coming back after an hour won’t bring it back on. I have to repeatedly press the power button to shut it down and then restart it. I don’t want to have to do this.
