The sound you're hearing near the GPU area comes from your X370 Asus Crosshair VI Hero, not the GPU itself. It might be caused by a fan or other component nearby. To stop it, check the fan settings or consult the manufacturer's guidelines for troubleshooting.
The chipset fan might need attention alongside the power supply unit.
Looks like numerous users filed an RMA: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/eh...yzen_3000/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/8s...oil_whine/
Does it come with a fan? I assumed only the X570 model includes one.
Coil whine originates from inductors and related coils on the board. These components are often found in switchmode power supplies, such as the one that powers your CPU, to help maintain stable current flow. The issue arises when you increase the current through the inductor, which boosts the magnetic force it generates. This leads to stronger vibrations at the switching frequency, making the noise audible. You might see a large inductor on the board with white glue residue, typically made of silicone called silastic. This material secures wires and reduces vibration under stress. If you identify the vibrating coil, you can likely resolve the problem by applying silicone or hot glue to dampen the movement.
You can check if it vibrates or locate its source by listening.
If the shaking is intense enough to be noticeable, it likely means there are bigger issues with your hand. I’d try to locate the general source of the noise and examine the various inductors on the board. If you can hear them moving, you should be able to feel that too.
If coil whine occurs, there are several approaches to address it. You might attempt stress testing the parts until the issue disappears (uncommon but has succeeded before), consider swapping out the power supply unit as it can sometimes be responsible, or opt to replace the motherboard either through an RMA process or by purchasing a new one. Coil whine is quite prevalent and usually causes only minor annoyance.
