Hi there So this is my first pc build and I decided to try my motherboard out to check it to make sure it was all good and working. I don't have my RAM OR CPU yet so i am unable to put them in yet. I plugged in the 24 pin power and cpu power cable and the power switch connector in and pressed the power button and nothing. No lights or anything. Just wondering if it's because i don't have a CPU and RAM installed or if my mobo is dead. Specs: Mobo: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F PSU: EVGA EG 750W 80+ Gold

It requires those two components to function, though I’m unsure if it tries to send a POST without them. Make sure your PSU is powered on and verify the case connections. You might also test shorting the power pins with a screwdriver for confirmation.

I've attempted to short the pins but it didn't work. I've also tested my PSU using a paper clip, and it functions properly with the fan spinning.

It seems the CPU and RAM are missing from the setup. Wait until you install them before using the system.

It seems reasonable to check if the device powers on for testing its status.

Be patient, my friend. Once you have the CPU and RAM, test it out! It's thrilling to try new components, but you're taking a risk with static electricity potentially damaging the motherboard.
