I improved my PC with an MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk Wi-Fi, R7 9800X3D and Kingston Fury 2x16GB 6000mAh RAM, a 850W PSU and an RX 6950 X. When the GPU is connected and turned on but no display appears, removing the GPU lets it boot through the motherboard. I’m unsure what to do—I tried another GPU which worked but didn’t show the GPU on the desktop, only the integrated graphics. I updated the BIOS but it didn’t fix the issue, reinserted RAM without success. The DRAM light is flashing on the motherboard when the GPU is in.
I purchased it a few months back and it functioned well with my previous system. Tomorrow I plan to install drivers for my old GPU and check if it gets recognized on Windows. My old GPU is a 2080 Super. If it appears, I’ll attempt the 6950 XT on another machine and see if it boots. It would be unusual if the GPU failed suddenly like that, though it’s not impossible.
You’ve just installed the drivers and everything seems to be working on your new PC. It looks like the 6950 XT might have failed, but it could be related to the power supply unit. Your cooler setup is a fully modular 850-watt PSU, which should help prevent GPU issues from the PSU.
I looked into it this morning and confirmed the GPU is faulty. It hasn’t happened to me before, though I’m not sure. Fortunately, the store where I bought it will replace it for me.
