Hey there, friends. Today my Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2 stopped working. The problem is it keeps turning on briefly, then shutting off again, and finally coming back on just once before failing completely. This has happened repeatedly even after replacing the power supply (from a 600W to a 9,700W model). I didn’t think much of it until I unplugged it for three days and came back to find it wouldn’t turn on at all. I tried jiggling the power button pins with a screwdriver and resetting the switch, but nothing helped. Even after swapping another PSU, the fans didn’t spin. I tested my current PSU in another PC, but it worked fine there too. I removed the motherboard completely from its case and still got no response. I’m pretty sure something is wrong with the board itself.
I’m wondering if there’s a fix possible or if the issue might be caused by the case. I don’t want to keep using this case and risk damaging another board. Also, since LGA 1150 boards aren’t available nearby, what should I buy as a replacement that’s affordable but still a decent upgrade? I’m running a 4790K with 2x8GB Corsair LP DDR3 RAM and a GTX 1080 graphics card. Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any advice!
First TUF comes with a 5-year warranty if you're still within that period. Second, what cooler are you using? I recall Intel's boxed coolers used to have bending boards in the past, which prevented the CPU from making contact. It might be worth re-seating your CPU either way. You could also attempt to boot just your motherboard with a CPU outside the case to ensure nothing causes a short circuit.
