My system information shows all SATA ports are free. The cables are properly seated, and the drive is detected during Windows 11 installation. Still, I’m unable to start the SSD.

The 2.5" SSD requires both a SATA cable from the motherboard and SATA power from the power supply. M.2 SSDs may be NVMe (using PCIe lanes) or AHCI (using SATA). Check the motherboard manual—some connectors only support NVMe, others just SATA drives. Open BIOS (use DEL or F2 at startup), navigate to the boot order menu, choose devices that can boot from external storage, select your SSD, or the option labeled "Windows."

When the storage device is set as the first priority, it will continue to launch from the BIOS.

You have SATA power connected to the SSD, a data cable linking the motherboard and the SSD, but it isn't appearing in the BIOS. It's possible the drive is faulty. Try different cables and ports. If the issue persists, the SSD is likely dead.

It's odd that the window setup identified the driver.

It seems the relevant details were overlooked. The system should still appear in the BIOS, which is unusual. Verify that the SATA controller is configured for AHCI. Ensure UEFI boot is active and compatibility mode is turned off (sometimes referred to as UEFI-only mode). Secure boot must be enabled in Windows WHQL mode. Once you've completed a fresh Windows installation, it should display "Windows Boot Loader" as the boot device in the BIOS, not just SATA 1. This indicates the Windows installation was properly set up in UEFI mode.

Maybe the issue lies elsewhere—check your BIOS settings or the correct location where the device appears in Windows.

Have you considered some alternatives? (It seems the SSD setup is working with Windows 11.)
